Luo Hui, member of the leading Party members group and director general of the Department of International Affairs of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), met with Chen Qiang, president of the Nordic Zhigong Association and his delegation at the China Hall of Science and Technology (CHST) on March 13, 2023.
Luo Hui extended a warm welcome to Chen Qiang and his delegation, and provided a detailed introduction about the basic information of CAST and its continuous efforts in conducting scientific and humanity exchanges, participating in global sci-tech governance and serving overseas sci-tech professionals in recent years.
Luo expressed her expectations to strengthen people-to-people exchanges and cooperation with the Nordic countries in the future.
Chen Qiang made a basic introduction of the Nordic Zhigong Association and its endeavors in undertaking the construction of one of CAST’s overseas innovation and entrepreneurship bases.
Chen expressed his hope of getting more engaged in CAST’s major priorities and create new cooperation opportunities to build a bridge between CAST and the Nordic sci-tech community.
At the meeting, representatives from the fields of biomedicine, nuclear physics, industry and finance of the Nordic Zhigong Association had in-depth discussion on topics including transforming sci-tech achievements, participating in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, and promoting the construction of overseas bases.
In her summary, Luo Hui said that China and the Northern Europe have a long history of exchanges and cooperation.
She hoped that overseas Chinese community could pay more efforts to promote sci-tech cooperation and young talent mobility to strengthen cooperative foundation and build a community with a shared future for mankind.
Zhou Hui, deputy director of the department of liaison of the Central Committee of China Zhigong Party, and relevant officers of CAST from the Department of Organization and Personnel, the Department of International Affairs, the National Academy of Innovation Strategy (NAIS), and the China Center for International Science and Technology Exchange (CISTE) attended the meeting.
The Nordic Zhigong Association is currently undertaking the construction of the Nordic (Sweden) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base, which is one of the six bases of CAST’s Help Our Motherland through Elite Intellectual Resources from Overseas Program (HOME Program).
Founded in Stockholm, capital city of Sweden in March 2017, the Nordic Zhigong Association is mainly composed of sci-tech experts and overseas Chinese.
The association has been committing to uniting and assisting overseas Chinese to promote economic, technological, and cultural exchanges between the Northern Europe and China, thus providing a platform for overseas Chinese to promote traditional Chinese culture and participating in the construction of the motherland.
