Recently, the International Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association (IHFCA) was approved by the Technical Committee on hydrogen energy of the International Standardization Organization (ISO/TC197) as the first ISO/TC197 Category A liaison organization headquartered in Asia.
The International Standardization Organization (ISO) is the world's authoritative international organization in the field of standardization. The ISO/TC197 is one of the technical committees responsible for the standardization in the field of hydrogen energy technology.
Currently the ISO/TC197 consists of 30 participating members and 14 observing members, and has established Category A liaison with a total of
7 organizations including the European Commission (EC), the European Industrial Gases Association (EIGA), the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML), the European cylinder manufacturer association, the International Association for Hydrogen Safety (HySafe) and the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO).
The IHFCA was founded in Beijing in July 2022 and is under the guidance of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST). Its ties with the ISO/TC197 will facilitate its participation in the formulation of international standards, exchanges and cooperation, and sci-tech governance as well in the field of hydrogen technology.
