The People's Government of Pingdingshan Municipality in central China’s Henan province opened a special section on its official website to link the platform of “China Science Communication” to appeal visitors to note the most trending topics in science communication circles on August 2, 2022.

The platform is the outcome of brand program of “China Science Communication” initiated by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) to gather, categorize and display digitalized popular science resources with all media forms since 2015. With the support of all social sectors, it has become the most authoritative science communication platform in China.

This is a pioneering initiative in the province and demonstrates Pingdingshan municipal government’s efforts in promoting all media engagement with science communication and accelerating the construction of a whole-area science popularization system.

With the aim to increase the access to the information spread by the program and the voices of CAST, local branches of CAST made concerted efforts to open section on local mainstream media platforms to disseminate scientific knowledge and promote scientific spirit.

Since the beginning of this year, Pingdingshan Association for Science and Technology (PAST) has accelerated pilot trials in digitalizing science communication resources to promote whole-area science communication.

PAST cooperated with China Pingmei Shenma Group, Pingdingshan University, Pingdingshan Radio & TV Station, Pingdingshan Daily and other relevant units to convert the existing science communication resources in local areas into popular science video clips and disseminate the clips on Tiktok and other social media and media convergence platforms.

By using media matrix strength and personalized pushing services based on big data and web-mining and big data technologies, science communication efforts are expected to receive better results.

Next, PAST will make efforts to open “China Science Communication” section on other local mainstream media platforms including Pingdingshan news network.
