Recently, the China Alliance for Science Literacy (CASL) had an online council meeting to discuss current work and identify major priorities in 2022.
The meeting reviewed current work carried out by member units of the alliance around topics of strengthening connectivity and sharing resources to enhance Chinese citizens' scientific literacy, shedding light on the establishment of a special fund to improve public’s scientific literacy, serial activities of S&T in support for Rural Revitalization, and the program of setting open days and holding saloons to demonstrate achievements of research institutes and appeal wide participation of the public.
Representatives of the member units shared experiences in practicing new modes to provide socialized science popularization services while participating in national programs including National Science Popularization Day, national science and technology activity week, and S&T voluntary services, making efforts on mobilizing the industrial circles to fully use their S&T resources to popularize science.
In 2022, the CASL is expected to make full use of the diversity and advantages of member units to build brand programs to benefit Chinese citizens, especially teenagers’ engagement in science, and establish awards to flourish science popularization work creation and cultivate more popular science writers, and promote the implementation of the government’s policy on reducing elementary and secondary students’ homework and after-class teaching activities with rich science communication programs.
