The 2019 personnel interaction of science and education projects of nationwide science communication museums has been successfully staged in Shenyang, Liaoning Province from May 7th to 10th, 2019. Sponsored by the Children and Youth Science Center of China Association for Science and Technology (hereafter CYSCC) and undertaken by the Liaoning Science and Technology Museum (hereafter LSTM), the event has attracted 93 exhibition educators from 47 science communication museums to participate.
The personnel interaction activities mainly span theoretical studies, case studies, teacher workshops and field investigations, etc. Ms. Li Xiuju, associate researcher of China Research Institute for Science Popularization (hereafter CRISP) has delivered a report titled Teaching on the Science Enquiry and Science Nature, which has remarkably heightened participants’ understanding of the enquiry and nature of science.
Integrating with excellent science communication museum educational activities, Mr. Zhu Youwen, former director of exhibition and education center of China Science and Technology Museum (hereafter CSTM) systematically expounds on how to effectively and reasonably build a bridge between science communication museum educational activities and the school science curriculum, theme selection of the educational activities, educational methods and forms, and appraisal methods and implementation strategies, which have further deepened participants’ comprehension of connotations, methods, categories and forms of the science communication museum educational activities. Associate Professor Ye Zhaoning from the Southeast University interprets the Primary School Science Curriculum Standards of Compulsory Education released by Ministry of Education of PRC in 2017 from four dimensions, namely “science knowledge”, “science enquiry”, “science attitudes”, and "science, technology, society and environment". She elaborates on how to guide the students to conduct the enquiry-style study in extracurricular education to as to enable them to further understand and firmly grasp the science curriculum standards and better master the methods of extracurricular educational activities.
During the personnel interaction activities, participants have compared notes with each other about the Case of First Prize from the 4th exhibition and assessment conference of science education projects of the nationwide science communication museums. Participants have also shared information and exchanged ideas about educational activity design through the links of teacher workshop, teaching simulation, and experiencing the education projects of the LSTM. All the links’ content involved in these activities are unexceptionally conducted by team learning and cooperation, which enables the participants to share the advantages and characteristics of the educational activities implemented by all kinds of science communication museums. The participants unanimously point out that with clear-cut aims, targeted ways, and rich content, the personnel interaction activities has broadened their horizons and they have derived great benefit from these activities.
