Between May 13th and 20th China delegation organized by CYSC took part in the 69th Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) held in Pittsburgh, USA. During the week-long event China delegation up to 24 finalists (21 projects) won three special awards and nine grand awards. Chou Ruihua from the High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China won the first place in the field of systems software. Fan Yueyang from No.2 High School of East China Normal University won the first place in the field of plant sciences. Both of the two first place winners were entitled the best of category.
In the sideline of the event one Chinese student observer selected from 32nd China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest (CASTIC2017) also attended BROADCOM MASTERS International.
On May 14th and 15th Dr. Xu Yanhao, Vice President and Executive Secretary of CAST was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the 69th Intel ISEF and have a meeting with Maya Ajmera, President & CEO of Society for Science & the Public and Publisher of Science News. After an in-depth exchange two sides reached a consensus on pushing forward the developments of international science education events and engaging much more Chinese young scientists with international contests for young scientists.
On May 17th Mr. Liu Yang, Director General of Children and Youth Science Center (CYSC) of CAST presented CAST President Award at the special award ceremony of 69th Intel ISEF. This year CAST President Award went to 14 finalists from USA, Russia, India and Saudi Arabia.
The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), a program of Society for Science & the Public, is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition. In 2018 approximately 1,800 high school students from more than 81 countries, regions, and territories were awarded the opportunity to showcase their independent research. As the affiliated fair holder, CYSC supports and organizes brilliant Chinese young scientists to participate in Intel ISEF and gives a special award to the projects that best reflect the originality and innovation of the students' work in all scientific disciplines each year.
